Aloha Orange Rolls - March Madness

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/4 cup Granulated White Sugar
  • 1 Tbs. Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 cup Butter, softened 
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tsp. Orange Zest
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Orange Juice
  • 4 cups All-purpose Flour (plus extra for rolling)
Filling: 

Frosting: 

  • 4 oz Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup Offbeat Foods Aloha Butter
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Tbs. Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar

    DIRECTIONS

    1. In a small bowl combine warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast and let sit 5 minutes or until bloomed.
    2. In your mixer combine salt, butter, egg, orange zest, orange juice, and 4 cups of flour. Pour yeast mixture in and mix with dough hook on low speed for 5 minutes until elastic. 

    3. Dough should pull away from sides of bowl. Spray a large bowl with baking spray and place dough in the greased bowl, covered with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise at room temperature for one hour or until doubled in size.

    For Filling:

    1. In a medium bowl combine sugar, orange zest and ground ginger. Set aside.
    2. On a floured work surface, roll dough to a 24 inch by 12 inch shape.
    3. Spread Offbeat Aloha butter over dough. Sprinkle and spread sugar mixture evenly over Aloha butter. Sprinkle 4-5 Tablespoons of flour evenly over filling. Carefully roll dough long ways to form a long log.
    4. Cut the dough into 12 rolls. Place the rolls on a 9x13 inch pan or large baking sheet with enough room for the to rise.
    5. Put a dish towel over the rolls and allow the to double in size. While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350 F. Bake for 25 minutes. Allow them to cool slightly before icing.

    For the Icing:

    1. Mix together your softened cream cheese and Aloha butter and mix until it is smooth. Mix in powdered sugar, vanilla, and orange juice concentrate until everything is incorporated and icing is thick.
    2. Lather that icing on those DELICIOUS rolls and taste the island breeze.
